Welcome to Dairy Departed
![]()
Departing from dairy felt like a mourning where I shed tears and expected a future of exclusion and lack luster meals. However once I was over the hysterics, I discovered a world of dairy free delights, swaps and ways to feel like its not a big deal.
Living dairy free is due to being dairy Intolerant, it’s not that I don’t accept the options of milk, they are indeed very valid but dairy just makes me ill.
I’ve been learning how to live dairy free at home, work, visiting friends and eating out.
This is what I’ve learnt and want to share, hopefully to give some guidance to those needing or wanting to be dairy free.
TARA DAIRY FREE
Imagine the bleak reality of being unable to eat and enjoy cheese in all its varied and stinky forms. Not to mention the joy of unctuous treats such as sticky toffee pudding, honey flavored Greek yogurt and gloopy hot chocolate………I can’t even bare to mention my favourite crisps! This is what I was facing when it was identified that eating dairy had been making me ill. I felt so rotten and did not expect to be free from that.
I love food, eating out, buffets, cookery shows, daydreaming about forthcoming meals, cake with friends, in all it forms I am excited and committed. I would describe it as a long term love affair that any crack or malfunction in the relationship is heart breaking. Cue the need for ice cream, pastries and other dairy ladened products.
